The European Transport Conference, now in its 39th year, is known for the quality of its papers, length of its discussion sessions and opportunities for networking. The structure of the conference provides a platform for up to 10 seminars to run simultaneously on each day, allowing delegates access to a variety of information and networking opportunities.

Featuring…

• Daily plenary sessions on key topics, with keynotes given by significant names in world transport:

o Hot Topic Session - Can Europe afford to fund the new European Transport Plan?
o Ports. Can they meet the needs of modern logistics?
o High Speed Rail. Is it on track?

• Civic Reception (hosted by the City of Glasgow)
• Conference Dinner
• Welcome reception for First Time attendees
• Over 30 countries represented
• Technical Visits
• Over 500 attendees from all over the world

Bringing Practice and Research Together

The European Transport Conference programme covers both practical and research disciplines, providing an overlap across the themes to deliver sessions which look at not only transport research but also at the practical application.

Participants have complete flexibility to attend any seminar on the programme, and are welcome to follow a specific conference theme, or cross between themes.

Delegates have access to these two distinct but overlapping aspects of transport and can move between sessions of great diversity.

The distinctions cover two main areas:

Transport Policy and Operations includes seminars and discussion groups of direct relevance to transport planners and engineers with case studies as well as policy development.

These cover local and national policy initiatives, transnational transport policy in Europe, as well as the broader implications of the climate change and sustainability agenda. Seminars also focus on the practical aspects of transport demand management, transport engineering and traffic safety, freight and logistics, local and interurban public transport, funding for transport, transport impacts of tourism and the delivery and operation of roads policy.

Research to Inform Decision-Making in Transport includes seminars with a methodological focus covering innovative and applied methods. While these sessions are more directed towards those working in transport research, they do also have practical applications to transport.

Register Now - ISOCARP 2011
24-28 October Wuhan, China

The theme of the 47th Congress is : "Liveable Cities - Urbanising World, Meeting the Challenge". This theme reflects the central problem of the acknowledged world wide phenomena of the exponential and inexorable inward flow of people to cities and the consequent rapid expansion of urban development. The city of Wuhan, with its ever increasing population base, has acknowledged the importance of this Congress Theme especially with regard to learning how their particular range of urban, transportation congestion and spatial problems are being dealt with sustainably across the Globe. The Congress will support five workshops exploring the major theme in terms of low carbon environments, sustainable networks, all transportation pathways including waterways, recreational provisions, Heritage and the Green Environment.

There will be, in addition to the four topical workshops, selected half day workshops such as one being offered by the City of Wuhan and the Centre for Liveable Cities, Singapore.

Register Now - EEVC 2011

The EEVC Scientific Reviewing Committee has selected over 130 high quality presentations from 22 countries. When setting up the program, special attention was paid that both industry representatives, researchers and private/public decision makers could all find a full session track of interest.
The congress will thus be both scientific and politic as the aim of the conference is to foster discussions between scientists, industry and authorities. It is indeed very important to develop an arena where the needs and constraints from the ones are well understood by the others. This is the only way to make sure that the most appropriate products or technologies for Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles are selected for market introduction. Discover the detailed program at http://www.eevc.eu.

ABOUT THE EVENT
One of the pillars of the European Commission’s policy to lower greenhouse gas emissions from transport and to reduce oil dependency is the strategy on alternative motor fuels to substitute 20% of the fossil fuel by 2020. In this framework, Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles will play an important role.
Owing to research and development progress, Battery and Hybrid Electric Vehicles are technically ready for a massive launch on the market while Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles still need a longer technological maturation process. In addition, the recent increases in oil prices remove the last economic barriers and the environmental concerns are rocketing.
It is vital though, from now on, to be able to define the technologies that lead to technological, environmental and economical acceptable solutions.
EEVC 2011 will gather the different actors, from industry, research institutes, NGO’s and public authorities, will global platform to foster exchange of views and will help to develop a roadmap for sustainable urban mobility technology.

REGISTRATION
Early registration is closing 15th September 2011. Room is limited, so please register now.
