.

The City of Stuttgart has the great pleasure to announce the World Congress 2008 of the global network Cities for Mobility titled “Towards envirnonmentally-friendly mobility in our cities” to be held in the city hall of Stuttgart, Germany on June 1 - 4 2008.

.

Objectives

The event is aimed at providing a dynamic platform for advancing direct cooperation in the field of sustainable urban mobility between local and regional governments, but also other partners from business, science and society at large. This year’s thematic focus will be on the interplay of “traffic and the environment” in our cities enabling participants to discuss and exchange experiences as well as to present examples of best practices.

One of the main purposes is to learn from already concluded projects and to jointly develop innovative project ideas. Several interesting project proposals initiated during the last World Congress are on their way to implementation. They suggest progressive solutions to problems of urban mobility and will be presented at this year’s congress.

Programme

In the various sessions and workshops participants will have the opportunity to learn about concrete projects of local authorities which promote successfully sustainable forms of urban mobility aiming at a higher quality of life in our cities. The Workshops serve as a forum for the five thematic clusters of Cities for Mobility, for developing new project ideas, finding partners and presenting innovative solutions.
