Within a compact two-day program, more than 70 presentations will be given by speakers from 20 countries and from all continents on topics such as the future of electric mobility, integrated transport and spatial planning in metropolitan regions, high-speed ground transport, and route choice and traffic assignment. Keynote speakers will address the following topics:

2nd Plenary Session (Oct. 1): Future of High-speed Ground Transport:

  • Prospects and Limitations of High-speed Systems: Aspects of an Interdisciplinary Approach (Germany)
  • The Future of High-speed Ground Transport Worldwide (USA)
  • The Current State of Brazil High-speed Planning

3rd Plenary Session (Oct. 1): Route Choice and Traffic Assignment:

  • Route Choice in Road Networks - Observing and Modelling Route Choice (Germany)
  • Static Traffic Assignment - What is a Good Assignment? (Israel)
  • Dynamic Traffic Assignment - Can Dynamic Models Offer More? (Italy)

Additionally, tutorials on three important transport-related topics will be held by FOVUS institutes the day before the Symposium:

  • Evaluation of urban transportation investments
  • Positioning and map matching for traffic application
  • Innovative approaches to railway capacity analysis
