You are cordially invited to join us at the World Road Association's (PIARC's) XIII International Winter Road Congress taking place in the city of Québec February 8 to 11, 2010. Come experience winter service in a country where the people have learned to live in harmony with this demanding season!
This 13th edition of the International Winter Road Congress will be a bilingual event where the official languages will be French and English. To this end, simultaneous interpretation and document translation services will be provided for the technical sessions at the congress.
The theme of the Congress in the city of Québec, “Sustainable Winter Service for Road Users,” is perfectly in tune with the strategic objectives adopted by the Association at the start of its second century of existence, namely the sustainability of our road systems, road service, user needs and responsabilities.
Sustainable Winter Service begins with taking a customer and road user’s orientation regarding requirements and levels of service, and includes winter weather and transportation system impacts, information services, decision support systems, the full range of mitigation techniques and technologies, actual operations in multiple climatic and social settings, and the impacts (environmental, social, economic) of the operations.
Sustainability also includes planning and management of the entire system, along with its performance (cost-benefit) and evolution, in relation to both society and the environment.
Come and meet more than 100 exhibitors, 100 conference speakers and 1000 delegates from some 50 countries!
