Dear colleague:
The Urban Affairs Association (UAA) invites you to participate in its 39th Annual Meeting:
Conference Theme: Contesting and Sustaining the City: Neighborhood, Region, or World
March 4-7, 2009
The Renaissance Hotel, Chicago, Illinois
Proposal submission deadline: October 1, 2008
In keeping with the traditions of UAA Annual Meetings, we encourage proposals on the full variety of urban research topics typically found at our conferences (e.g. health, transport, environmental issues, education, poverty/welfare, race/ethnicity, gender relations, economic development, urban theory, urban finance, urban politics, planning, growth management, globalization and cities, technology and urban society). Domestic, international, and comparative case studies play an important role in the conference.
UAA conferences normally attract about 500-600 participants. Attendees (i.e., faculty, advanced graduate students, independent policy researchers, practitioners in policy-related ngos) are drawn from multiple disciplines, creating a mix that encourages an open and collegial conference climate. The conferences include a nice combination of formal and informal activities that facilitate networking and relaxed exchanges among colleagues. See reports and pictures from our past annual meetings in our newsletters available at our website address noted below. You can also peruse past conference programs.
Proposals for the 2009 meeting can be submitted online through our website: http://www.udel.edu/uaa/annual_meeting/proposal_submission.html
All are welcome to submit proposals—you do not need to be a member of UAA to participate in the meeting.
