Register Now for Re-Imagining Cities: Urban Design after the age of OilRe-Imagining Cities: Urban Design After the Age of Oil
November 6-8, 2008 at the University of Pennsylvania

Register now for a groundbreaking symposium on how urban designers and public and private decision-makers are re-imagining our cities in the face of costly energy and global warming.

Including Peter Head of Arup and Elizabeth Kolbert of The New Yorker, more than 70 scholars and practitioners from around the world will discuss how to achieve the new sustainable urban world. An associated interactive exhibit will be open in conjunction with the symposium.

This symposium marks the 50th Anniversary of the 1958 University of Pennsylvania/Rockefeller Foundation "Conference on Urban Design Criticism." The participants–Jane Jacobs, Louis Kahn, Kevin Lynch, Ian McHarg, Lewis Mumford, I.M. Pei and others--shaped urban design in the 20th Century.

Re-Imagining Cities will set the directions for 21st Century urban design. The University of Pennsylvania School of Design and the Penn Institute for Urban Research, with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation, are its sponsors.
