On behalf of the organising committee and the supporting organisations, we are pleased to invite you to Melbourne for the 7th International Conference on Water Sensitive Urban Design.

Understanding the nexus between sustainable urban water management and the vitality, liveability and prosperity of urban communities is one of the most significant challenges of the 21st Century.

Many urban communities are now faced with rising temperatures, longer and more severe droughts, more frequent and devastating floods and increased levels of water borne pollutants; all of which diminish the liveability of our urban areas and degrade our natural environments.

Building a water sensitive community cannot be achieved with traditional urban water management approaches alone. To meet to this challenge, an integrated approach is necessary; we should strive to effectively link the myriad design and implementation cultures of the different disciplines involved in urban water management.

During WSUD2012, we invite you, through your participation, to demonstrate how this linking is possible, and let this conference be the first stepping stone toward building the water sensitive community.

Call for Abstracts

Traditional Paper Submission & Platform Presentations
This option is designed for authors interested in a traditional scientific peer-review process of a full conference paper submission. Authors need to submit a short abstract for review and if accepted they will be asked to submit a full conference paper (8pages, blind reviewers, template to be provided). Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Authors will have a 15minute oral/platform presentation at the conference (with 5mins Q&A).

Practice Submission & Platform Presentations
This option is designed for authors interested in presenting at the conference, but not going through the traditional full paper submission process. Authors need to submit a short abstract for review and if accepted they will submit an extended abstract (approx 1000 words, 2pages) and a set of PowerPoint (or equivalent) slides (both of which will be 'expert reviewed'). Accepted submissions will have their extended abstract and slides published (after consent) in the conference proceedings, and authors will have a 15minute oral/platform presentation at the conference (with 5mins Q&A).

5minute Soap-Box Sessions
This option is designed for organisations/companies interested in presenting their new ideas and/or novel technologies. Short abstracts are still requested and will be used for selection, but no other submission is required. Accepted submissions will have their abstract published in the conference proceedings, and they will have a 5minute 'soap-box' style presentation at the conference.
